The blog that I read had to do with whether teachers are underpaid. The person who originally posted the blog said that teachers are underpaid.
He stated that he resigned from teaching after 10 years of service. He said that he was only making $16,000 while working part-time. He said that would equate to making $32,000 full-time. He compared that wage to a nurse's salary and argued that the nurse made $30,000 more per year than he did. And this did not even take in the fact that he still paid for school supplies out of his pocket.
Others argued that some teachers in their districts make $80,000 while only working nine months out of the year.
Someone else said that the janitors at their school make more than the teachers without having to go to college, get a BS degree and work on getting a Masters degree.
The argument went back and forth and I thought blogging is a great way to say what you feel without the hassle of email. I also like the way people can add hyperlinks in their blogs to allow the reader to go to another site for further information. I will definitely try to blog more often after seeing how this work.
